I moved to San Francisco seeking to pivot from a career in entrepreneurship in the food processing/restaurant industry to a food-focused position in the fast-paced tech landscape. My previous experience has allowed me to gain cross-cultural perspective into the food industry’s needs, and an understanding of the deep influence of food in shaping families, cultures, societies and communities.
I founded 2010 Urban Food LLC with the purpose of filling a market gap of hygienic and scalable meat product manufacturing and a mission geared towards empowering women and marginalized communities. We were able to do this sustainably and profitably through a unique supply model I developed that implemented buyback programs, co-operative farming practices and profit sharing with the farm producers. I’ve since been heavily involved in hiring, negotiations, developing marketing sales & marketing strategies, managing large accounts, formulating policies and practices and developing team structure and culture. Within 8 years since founding, we have hence been able to grow the company 10X to 2200 lb daily production capacity employing 80 people in a very competitive landscape.
