I feel my 10 years of public accounting experience has been preparing me to take on a role such as this. I have reached a point in my career where consistent staff turnover and lack of team atmosphere have exhausted my passion for catering my professional expertise to multiple entities and I am ready to take the next step to support one organization for the foreseeable future.
Prior to my existing employer, I successfully passed the CPA exam on my own while working part time. Once I accepted the staff position with Stephano Slack LLC I was immersed in many of the accounting facets I studied to become a certified public accountant. Over the years I have been exposed to attestation work as well as general accounting and tax work. It was my goal to be well-rounded and reinforce what I learned in school as well as what I learned from taking the CPA exam. Thankfully, the firm was willing to support me in this endeavor. Over the years, I was able to cultivate an outsourced accounting division within the firm to allow me to work directly with business owners and many outside vendors.
One particular engagement morphed into a controller position which allowed me to manage the entire back office process for three Pennsylvania dispensaries while maintaining strict reporting deadlines. This engagement ended when there was a 100% equity buyout of our client and the duties were absorbed into the Chicago headquarters for the parent company. The transition was so smooth that the experience I provided was going to be used as their transition template going forward for future acquisitions. That experience was the catalyst to my exploring private industry opportunities. During this same time, I was able to obtain my CVA designation with the hopes of building a new valuation practice within the firm. There were many roadblocks to achieve this goal. Primarily due to the lack of guidance, lack of staff support, and current book of business that required my work ethic and responsiveness. In spite of all that there have been periodic valuations that I have been able to complete along with my regular accounting and tax workload.
Over the years I have prided myself on helping clients and colleagues succeed and increase process efficiency which is the most rewarding part for me. As I mentioned before, I feel as though it is time for me to focus my talents and do my best to support the future success of one organization.
